SUMMARY
You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a heartwarming, funny, and timeless musical that brings the beloved Peanuts characters to life. Told through a series of charming vignettes, the show follows Charlie Brown as he navigates the everyday ups and downs of childhood—school, friendships, self-doubt, and the eternal quest to fit in.
Along the way, audiences meet the bossy but lovable Lucy, her sincere blanket-toting brother Linus, the confident and ambitious Sally, the piano-pounding perfectionist Schroeder, and, of course, Snoopy, whose vivid imagination turns ordinary moments into big adventures. Featuring toe-tapping songs like “Happiness,” “Suppertime,” and “My New Philosophy,” the musical captures the humor, innocence, and emotional honesty of growing up.
Perfect for performers of all ages, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown celebrates individuality, resilience, and the simple joys of life—making it a delightful and uplifting production for cast, crew, and audiences alike.
HISTORY
You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown has a long-standing theatrical history rooted in Charles M. Schulz’s beloved Peanuts comic strip.
The musical premiered off-Broadway in 1967, with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, using a series of short, character-driven vignettes to capture the humor, heart, and everyday philosophy of the comics. Its simplicity and charm made it an immediate success and led to an extended off-Broadway run.
A 1971 television adaptation broadened its reach, and the show went on to become one of the most frequently produced musicals in schools and community theaters. A 1999 Broadway revival refreshed the material with new songs by Andrew Lippa, including “My New Philosophy,” earning critical acclaim and Tony Award recognition.
Today, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown remains a timeless favorite, loved for its warmth, humor, and honest portrayal of childhood.
